HP is performing firmware updates on these models every 3 months.
903xl/953xl ink cartridges compatible will work in the model when an update occurs and still show ink levels.
If you have spare compatible cartridges, these will not work as the microchips on the cartridges need to be recoded to work with the updated firmware. We always sell the most updated cartridges. 912xl/963xl Cartridges, a firmware update is being pushed to the model every 3 months.
For these models that have not been turned off for the update then the cartridges would be instantly blocked from working by HP.
BUT FOR GOOD NEWS
We NOW sell the anti-firmware microchips on these series 912/963. when an update occurs the ink cartridges still will work until they are empty BUT will not show any ink level on the cartridges when this update occurs by HP. The only way around this would be turning the AUTO update off but HP lock this setting, we can explain how to turn this off.
